How I Prepared Pohe for The First Time
I know. Having a blog is a responsible work. One has to update it too but whenever I try to, procrastination hits me really very hard. And this time I'm having "writer's block". Hence just can't write anything creative, no story, no social issues. This time it's my experience of cooking pohe for the first time. Let's see what had I done :D
I have always been interested in trying out new things, learn new things etc. Cooking is one of them. I was about 12-13 years old back then when insisted mamma to make pohe (a breakfast recipe made from flattened rice). After a lot of requests and Papa's interference, mom allowed me to make pohe but on a condition; "whatever you make mustn't go into dustbin. However and whatever you make, you'll have to eat it all alone if you fail." I agreed and started with chopping required veggies. Onions, chillies, coriander, potatoes etc. I wanted to make it smacking delicious afterall!
Just a day or two ago I had watched a 'diet poha recipe' on a cookery show. I thought of giving it a try. And I kept everyone out of the kitchen, there was nobody there except me. After putting the apron on I got a feeling of being a Master Chef! Finally I started preparing pohe. In the cookery show, the chef had added dhaniya powder in pohe. Now it may sound really very absurd but I didn't know back then. And I added good 2-3 spoons of it. I was murmuring to myself like I'm explaining my "dish" on a TV show. Salt. Now what is this? T-spoon or tablespoon? Ahh leave it, it's a spoon anyway, and I added salt and stirred pohe a little. Suddenly a caustic, burning smell came out of kadhai. Mom asked, "What happened?" I was all confident (well overconfident this time) about my dish. Finely chopped coriander on the top and the lemon wedge aside, I served hot pohe to my parents. And to my surprise, papa praised it *_*
(Fathers are love❤️)
Mom was staring at the dish and after taking a bite; she asked, "What special ingredient have you used ma'am?"
Me, (with holding my head higher), "Nothing much, just a bit of dhaniya powder".
And both mom and dad started laughing out loud. I was all clueless. Mom somehow hardly controlled her laughter and said, "Well looking at the colour and taste I don't think you have any powder left in the jar." (Following a long giggle -_-)
And finally when I tasted my own dish.... Well ugh -_-
I will never ever trust and follow those cookery shows blindly for sure. Albeit now I'm way better and improved; but whenever I make pohe, this incident pops into my mind and unknowingly brings a delicate curve on my face (obviously continuing unstoppable laughs XD)
*Le Amateur chef* ;)
