A guy didn't even know what the book is about, who's Chh. Sambhaji Maharaj and all. I briefly and proudly introduced him. But within a picosecond, without even having the basic knowledge about the topic; he started a debate on how Marathas were just losers, they just fought for kingdoms, they never ever thought of the people. Over all; he was talking against Indian kings, emperors or say warriors and was praising the foreigners. Nope, I don't have any problem with that but you needn't defy the greatness of one to prove another superior.
He said, he knew Genghis Khan who's the best warrior as per he knows. Even about Peshwas, I'm too sure that he knew them after watching Bajirao Mastani. Just stop judging any character (dead or alive) by watching films, television serials, shows or any kind of media. They just can't show up the whole truth to you. Read several books, by different authors so you can catch all the sides, vices and virtues of a character which will help you to get clearer and firmer image. Characters will take shapes and shades and you'll able to judge them unbiased & with fair perceptions.
I and another person told him very gently, made him understand that he's wrong. My point is; sharing your views & starting a debate is completely fine. But only if you have enough knowledge about it.
I've read many books, have heard many stories and people aren't fool that they worship Shivaji and Sambhaji Maharaj. Novels, epics are written for their greatness. If he had talked even a single word against them in the real world out of the cocoon of virtual, online one; he would have drawn a disastrous riot.
You should avoid such controversial rather useless stupid things and being your own nuisance creater. Age is a foolish excuse, 18 years of living teaches you enough to understand what to talk and where.
I literally felt my blood boiling. Cause these are the same people who flaunt everywhere that they've seen *some conventionally superhit Hollywood films* and blah blah blah that too on first day first show. Some might get jelous but I feel pity on them. Cause they're running behind fake stories, characters, and heroes and forget the real ones.
Irony!!
Isn't it?
People who still don't know, whom I am talking about please read some books if you know Marathi then I refer you Shriman Yogi and Chhava to read. Or at least Google it! We should be ashamed if we don't know them.
Phew!! Finally got it off my chest!
Hope it won't happen again!
