Harappan civilization
It's raining outside heavily and obviously I can't go out of home, even I bunked the college and I know nobody is gonna punish or scold me. But I was really very idle, bored of those same "Anushka Sharma memes" and I somehow thought of updating the blog. But this time the topic is a bit different. It's not about social issues, my life experiences or some motivational stories; this time I've something related to history for the readers. This post is an introduction to the Harappan civilization. And maybe now onwards I'll be posting some historic stories, facts etc. Some people think of History as a boring subject; but I always found it pretty interesting. History is a mixture of mythology, Sociology, even the psychology. So, let's start discovering history of Harappan civilization :)
Harappan civilization should be described as India's oldest, rich and a developed civilization. Scriptures found in the civilization have not been read generally and cause of that this culture is included in the pre-historic era.
Then director general of Archeological Survey of India; Alexander Cunningham had first unfolded the possibility of ancient relics to be found beneath the ancient remnant hills when he had visited Harappa for an educational and research purpose in 1853 & in 1856. Antediluvian bricks were used in the making of Lahore-Multan railway track. Bygone currency was also found. But still everyone was clueless about the prosperous culture and antiquity this place had buried inside and preserved for ages.
In 1921 C.E. Dayaram Sahani discovered the first ever known Harappan cultured town while excavation in the Montgomery district of Punjab. Straight after a year, Rakhaldas Banarjee found an ancient town Mohenjo-Daro in the Larkana district of Sindh region. Harappa is 564 Kms away in the North from Mohenjo-Daro. Further the excavation was done till 1930 under the supervision of Sir John Marshall. Most of the intial sites of this civilization are located in the valley of Indus river. Therefore this civilization is also known as 'Indus valley civilization' or 'Sindhu civilization'.
It's difficult to confirm the period of Harappan civilization. Even the experts ain't unanimous about the chronology of this civilization and culture. In spite of the study of the remnants and various levels of excavation; decided time of period would vary from place to place. Hence the emergence of this civilization is estimated approximately. According to sir John Marshall, the commencement of Harappan civilization could be after 3250 B.C., sir Leonardo Wolley estimates it to be 2800 B.C. And Mortimer Wheeler decided the era of Harappan civilization to be 2500 B.C. with the reliance of proofs found in the excavation in the West Asia. Currencies which resemble the relics of Harappan civilization were found in the west Asia during excavation. Most of them belong to the period of Sargon (king) of the Akkad, 2350 B.C. to be specific. Dr. A.D. Pusalkar's estimation has derived from an earthen pot found in the excavation which he claims to be between 3000 to 2500 B.C.

No doubt I loved Social studies the most when I was in 6th std. Ancient history still remains my favorite! Right from medieval history to expansion of Ashokan empire. Those were the days!
